BESTEST (EMPLOYABILITY DIAGNOSTIC TEST)
BESTest is a psychometric test that will quickly, accurately, and objectively measure a client’s employability skills. The diagnostic accurately measures the starting points of individual clients against specific employability indicators that emerged from research by REED and NCFE.
BESTest was developed by NCFE and draws on research carried out by James Reed (Chairman of Reed Recruitment) and Dr Paul Stoltz (Harvard University) on the concept of Mindset in regard to employment and workplace behaviours, ie what are 96% of employers are looking for, BESTest incorporates these attitude attributes and measures these. BESTest was developed with University of Leeds and it accurately measures the starting points of a client against 10 indicators that are vital for employment success.
The test itself works by asking simple but effective questions. BESTest takes 15mins to complete and will give the users complete scoring on both their employability hard and soft skills, through 10 specific indicators. Firstly, with a per indicator scoring out of 10 and secondly an overall percentage of their current employability skills, the user can undertake the test multiple times and be able to see where their weaknesses lie, therefore concentrating their efforts in those areas.
The diagnostic is completed twice by a client, once at the beginning of the programme and then again at the end (however can be taken multiple times to keep measuring progression). This will enable the referable organisation / government quantitatively track distance travelled, whilst helping a client identify & highlight their strengths and weaknesses.
BESTest was launched in 2016. Since then, it has been used by 100,000’s individuals and is the only diagnostic of its kind that measures employability worldwide.
